We've been enjoying our last few weeks before school starts. The boys set up the badminton net in the backyard and I'm constantly being challenged to a game. My youngest can no longer be beat by this Mom! I think I laugh on the court more than hit the birdie. There is no mercy shown to me as either their Mother or as a "girl".
Earlier today, I finished this stitchery into a pillow for Halloween. It's a Stacy Nash pattern - "If the broom fits". The pattern does not call for it to be finished this way, but I happened to have a perfect size pillow form.
I would like to pass this pattern along to someone else who would like to stitch it. If you'd like it, leave me a comment on this post. I'll draw a name on Sunday night and get it right in the mail to you.
I received a pleasant surprise in the mail earlier this week - A beautiful hand stitched kitchen towel. It matches my kitchen PERFECTLY. Thank you Linda. You all know Linda Claus - of Parker's Paradise fame.
Yesterday we celebrated "Happy Lucky Day" for our gray cat, Shadow aka Graybee. 2 years ago yesterday my husband went into our local Town & Country store. The store has cages with kittens and dogs from the county humane society. When he arrived back home, he announced "there is a little gray kitten at Town & Country". That's all that needed said, we all piled into the van and went to visit. Were we even looking for a kitten?
5 bodies went to the store and 6 came home. I'm not sure that Frito thinks that August 7 is a Lucky Day. He maintains that his opinion wasn't sought prior to the adoption. We'll celebrate his Lucky Day on October 31.
Shadow is the perfect name for him, it started out due to his color, but what we didn't know is how social he is. Every morning when we get up, he's right there to greet us, often he has to be carried downstairs or we'd trip over him. He hoards things, stray pieces of my basket reed and any kind of bag that is crinkly are his favorites. He stashes his treasures in the kids' rooms.
Happy Lucky Day Graybinator!

I love it when a pet is celebrated! Sounds like your family is just as lucky having him as he is for you. I'm not in need of that pattern so please don't enter me.
ReplyDeleteThe Greybinator! lol! Your pillow stitched up fine! Great finishing too! Stacy's patterns are a definite favorite of mine! Looking forward to her first book release next month! :-) Anyways, I'll be following your idea and giving patterns away after I stitch them! Great idea!

Ah I see you have nicknames for your kitties as well! We call Jonsey the "baconator"! Quentin is called many names also! Happy Lucky Day to Shadow - he was very lucky (even if Frito objects) to having found you for a his family! Love the finish for your pillow and love the pillow (no need to enter me as I can't cross stitch anymore!) Hope you can show those boys that girls can hit that birdie too!
ReplyDeleteI love your Halloween cross stitch and ask that you please include me in your drawing.
ReplyDeleteReally like how you finished your pillow and especially like the fabric.
Love your crossstitch ...happy Lucky Day indeed ...enjoy your evening hugs lil raggedy angie
ReplyDeleteLove how you finished the stitchery! I would love a chance to win this pattern. How nice of you to pass it along!
ReplyDeleteHappy Lucky Day to Graybee! Such a wonderful story. My cats have nicknames too and funny enough they answer to all of them. My Ellie is also known as Birdie since she loves to watch the birds outside the window. She was a rescue from someone who no longer wanted her. How can people get pets and then decide later they don't want them. It's criminal in my opinion.

I would love to have the pattern too.
ReplyDeleteYour kitties seem so very settled, it didn't take long did it? Look at those expressions! I think sometimes they remember the flash from a previous photo, that's why they get that "augh, not again" look.
Love the pattern and your finish! Stacy Nash has the greatest patterns. I would love to be entered to win. It looks like a fun stitch.

Morning Ann:) Your lucky kitties are so fluffy and cute. They sure have a wonderful home with people who love them very much. Your pillow turned out so nice. I have to get my mojo back soon so I can start creating stuff for fall. Only a few weeks left!! Your pattern would be a perfect start. You are so nice to pass it along. That is a good idea.
