Pfaltzgraff Folk Art Anyone?

Reading your blogs, I am beginning to understand why it is that I never find any Pfaltzgraff Folk Art dishes at garage sales or thrift stores. We ALL use these dishes! I know that Rondell and Melissa both have it. Who else out there in Blog land has these dishes?
My cousin in NY also uses them, she gave me the pitcher - she had 2 and thought I'd like one. I sent her 8 salad plates in exchange. I found the blue goblets at a garage sale, I only got 3 of the small ones and 6 of the taller ones. The only other piece I found at a garage sale was a votive holder and I only paid 25 cents for it!
I made this little basket as a thank you gift for a gal that donated her basketweaving supplies and handles to Sauder Village. She wasn't weaving anymore and wanted to get rid of everything - she said it was making her feel guilty just sitting there not being used.

I grunged up a tea light and placed a couple of pip berry pieces in the basket.

I'm off to a garage sale to see if I can find some Folk Art! ~Ann

  1. Hi Ann,
Everytime I go to GW or a yard sales there is a flicker of hope that I'll find a piece of the Pfalzgraff that I love but so far no luck, maybe one day!

I love that little basket and how you put the grunged candle in it!
Have a wonderful day and I hope you find your piece od Pfalzgraff today!

  2. Alas.. I also have Pfaltzgraff Folk Art - I love it, almost an obsession.. I have NEVER found any at garage sales, once I found a few saucers at GW, once I found some at a little antique store.. but you can't find these dishes anywhere in Oklahoma I'm convinced. Yours are beautiful, I love the photo. Post more :) I can't get enough of these dishes!

  3. I've got them, too! I saw some at an antique mall this past weekend but I don't NEED anymore so I didn't get them. I don't even remember which pieces they were.

  4. I find pieces of Pfaltzgraff almost everyday at the GW! I must have good GW donators! Currently I collect Naturewood and Grapevine but I also have a set of Merlot. I've seen full sets of Folk Art at our GW many times. As my decorating style has changed I wish now I had grabbed them.

Right now there is a full set of Yorktowne sitting at the GW. 30 Pieces for $30.00. I like YT... but I'm holding out for Village or Folk Art.

  5. That is such a beautiful place setting.
I don't collect that, but I always admire the look of it. Simply Primtastic!

  6. Can you believe I had 12 place settings and sold them years ago at a garage sale?!! I'm kicking myself now for getting rid of them!
They have some listed on ebay if you'd like to go that route. Right now there are 4 dinner plates going for $5.24 with 3 days left to bid on. There's salad plates, bowls and other stuff if you're interested.

    Good luck with your hunt!

P.S. That little basket that you made is adorable!!

  8. Add me to your list! I started collecting it about a year ago. I had never seen it anywhere and one day I just happened to see some. WOW! It was love at first sight!
I love it and we use it as our everyday dishes.

  9. LOve the little basket. Few months ago I found 2 mugs in the GW for 50cents/ea. After that, I found a YS that have 10 pieces/$1.00 with the same pattern that you have above picture. And I love it!

  11. I have collected Pfaltzgraff Folk Art for well over 20 years - back when they were actually made in the USA!! It goes perfectly with my Bennington Pottery! You can still get pieces online and they even make melamime to match if you have little ones around!!

  12. My husband and I have collected Folk Art for nearly twenty five years and use it constantly. We love it so much, we seldon use our china, even for company. The new pieces made in China lack the almost hand made look. I think this pattern looks the most like the original Pfaltzgraff salt glazed pottery. This company brings out too many new patterns for too short a time. I love the Naturewood things; they are very clever. I also admire patterns that have complementary holiday pieces. 13. I'm interested in getting rid of my Folk Art set. I got it as wedding gifts over 20 years ago, but I would like something different now. Anyone interested?
