A Primitive Stocking

I just finished stitching "A Primitive Stocking" by Carriage House Samplings.
I thought it might take me a while to finish the stitching on this but it was a fast stitch!  Everynight when I sat down to work on this I would say "one more letter and I'll go to bed, ok one more and I'll go to bed!"

There are only 5 colors of floss used and mine is a little shorter than the pattern - about 2 inches.  The fabric I used wasn't as long as what the directions called for.

Since I'm done with the pattern, I'd like to pass it along to someone else who would like to stitch this design.  If you leave me a comment on this post, I'll draw a name for the pattern on Sunday night.

Last weekend we took a road trip to SE Wisconsin to visit my sister & her family.  While we were there we took a tour of The University of Wisconsin - Whitewater.  At the moment it's at the top of the list of potential colleges for our daughter.

My husband and I both went to a small private liberal arts college - 1,000 students.  UWW is slightly different - 11,000 students.  We both were very impressed.
Had to buy everyone a t-shirt - our 10 year old is very happy with his - on the back it says "U-DUB DUB".  He thought that was quite funny!

My sister and I took her 3 and 2 of my 3 for a bike ride in a Waukesha park.  This bike is NOT as easy as it looks....

There were 4 of us pedaling, but it was a work-out - especially when we were going up hill.  We were laughing so hard we weren't sure we could keep going.  I had the "baby" - she's 1 1/2years old on my lap while I was trying to pedal.  I had to keep on my 10 year old - telling him he was a slacker and he needed to work a little harder!

Hope you are having a good week.  ~Ann

  5. Hi Ann , you did an amazing job on that stocking!!! I would love to be entered for the pattern. That bike is a hoot, I guess it would be hard with all those people on it. My legs would be hurting for days!

  6. Good morning Ann....always nice to see you here in my neck of the woods.
Next time we will have to have lunch together - maybe meet over in Muskeego at that rest. you told me about. We have only one there once. And now the name of it escapes me.

UWW is a wonderful school...several of my cousins went there as well as their children. Hope she decides on tht school - it has a great recommendation from everyone.

Love the bike...never really seen one of these before.

  10. I love the stocking and your stitching work is just as amazing as your basket weaving! So talented!!I'll definitely have to try my hand at this design as well ... if only to chant "one more stitch before I go to bed!" LOL! It looks like your trip to UWW was fun and that bike is to die for! Love it. Thanks and have a great weekend!

  11. Ann, Your primitive stocking is great! Sounds as if you had fun at Sauder Village and on the trip with your family. Now it is back to the routines of life! PS. I've been "drooling" over your basket pictures. You do a great job!
