The Naughty List

I finally got our main tree up over the weekend.  Between having 2 of our 3 kids sick, 5th grade basketball games/practices, 7 & 8th grade basketball games/practices, attending the high school games and a TON of basket orders I'm WAY behind.
I found these great beeswax cones on etsy from Bethany of Natures Flame.  I purchased the empty cones and Bethany surprised me by filling one of them with sweet annie and rose hips.  LOVE how it looks on our tree.

The idea for these cinnamon stick stars came from Pinterest.  I used hemp cord and wrapped the 3 sticks tightly together.  Behind this ornament to the left you can see some handmade tin icicles that I bought from my tinsmith friend at Sauder Village.

The only other ornaments are dried orange slices, muslin stars and a paper chain.
Are you wondering yet why I titled this post "The Naughty List"?  Would you believe that this adorable little ball of fluff is a holy terror?

He's knocked over the tree in my last post twice, he's unplugged the tree in this post twice and he's taken baby Jesus hostage from under the tree, I'm still looking for baby Jesus. (This manger scene is fabric and Baby Jesus is a flat stuffed oval).  When our kids were younger, I never added the baby Jesus to the manager scene until Christmas day to reinforce to them the meaning of the day.  Maybe Shadow knows that Baby Jesus shouldn't be in the manger yet.

  1. hi, Ann the tree looks awesome~ prim pretty~
Girl I think Shadow is keeping baby Jesus until Christmas~ giggles~ you know how clever our cats our~ always one step ahead~
    have a wonderful day~

  2. Shadow can't possibly be a holy terror....just look how cute he looks snuggled in the chair!

Love your primitive decorations, Ann. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

  3. What a Beautiful tree, Ann.
    Love all your decorations.
I'm reading all over Blogland about cats and trees. Oh my! Seems like everyone is having a problem with the two.
    Have a wonderful week!

  4. My granddaughter showed some pics on fb of her cat in the tree and there was one ornament left on the tree, others were all over the house! Chum is pretty much leaving ours alone....Thank goodness! Merry Christmas!

    Bear Hugs & Blessings~Karen

  5. Ann~ Love the natural tree.I'm always attracted to cones.I need to make some one day.The kitty is just helping you decorate and helping you keep tradition but putting baby jesus away till Blessings!~Amy

  6. Your tree is beautiful, prim and natural! I love it!

  7. That tree is gorgeous Ann!! I love the decorations you chose - those wax cones, the stars, the tin icicles, the orange slices - each are perfect!! (I'd be tempted to fill all those cones with Sweet Annie and rose hips - it's so perfect!) And - awwww....sweet Shadow...I highly doubt he's a terror. ;o) My bet is that Baby Jesus is under the frig. My kitties are fairly good with the tree (well, there isn't a stinking thing - not even lights - on it yet this year....) - but when it comes to anything wool, look out. All my felted carrots disappeared this spring - and I caught the culprit in the act. One, however, is still MIA.....Hope Baby Jesus shows up in time for his big day.....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  8. oh Ann your cat is too funny..we didn't put up our trees yet as the littlest monsters (we have 2 babies ) that love to redecorate for kept it simple..maybe next year..keep us posted as to when you find baby jesus.;)

  9. I wonder why we cat lovers even bother putting up Christmas trees! Mine look terrible after being molested by 2 calico cats! I have a 5' pencil tree in my sewing room - one cat gets on each side of it and they play, through the tree. I caught it yesterday as it was falling! Grrrr!!

  10. Oh yeah, our kitty kats love to inspect our trees and all those lil ornies. It's in their nature... lol. Your tree is very pretty, and I love the cinnamon stick ornies :o) Clever!
    Merry Christmas!

  11. What a funny kitty. Well, maybe not so funny for you. I love your primitive ornaments. They look great. I also love Pinterest. You can find so many neat ideas there. Merry Christmas. -Steph-

  12. No! I can't and won't believe that that innocent looking kitty could do such a thing! I think a dog did it.
I understand about the kid's/our schedule thing!
I think I am going to run with the cinn. stick star thing. I love that and I was just trying to think of what I can do to "prim" my LR tree which in a past life was always very Victorian.
Thanks for sharing and if Shadow needs a lawyer to plead his innocense have him/her give me a ring, I might be able to help.

  13. A terror - with that face! LOL I know the "innocent look" well! Love the tree and the prim ornies!

  14. oh I love those cinnamon stick ornaments!!!!
Why didn't I think of that? Those are too cool.

  15. Hi Ann,
I so love your trees. I like the simple idea for the decorations and they're so pretty. Handmade ornaments are so fun aren't they. Love the Cinnamon stick stars.
I haven't been on Pinterest lately so I'm really missing a lot!

Merry Christmas (hope the kids are way better by then).

Thank you for visiting my blog. I'm so happy to "meet" you through blog land. ~Ann
